Lena Voss ran 30 minutes 52 seconds to break the women’s course record at the Hyde Park Autumn 10K on Sunday, one of the highlights of a morning that saw more than 6,000 runners complete the event.

Voss, representing Serpentine Striders, broke clear of the field around the 4km mark and built a lead of almost half a minute by the finish. She cut 41 seconds from the previous best, set in 2023.

A strong men’s race, too

In the men’s race, Kofi Mensah-Lyle edged Ahmed Rashidi by two seconds in a sprint finish, both men clocking 28:47. Rashidi, a former club cross-country champion, had led for most of the final lap before being caught on the line.

Behind the elites, the day belonged to the community. Charity runners raised an estimated £180,000 for local causes, and the youngest finisher, aged nine, crossed the line to a standing ovation from marshals.

“The crowds were unbelievable. When it gets hard around eight kilometres, hearing your name from strangers really does pull you through.”Lena Voss, women’s winner

Organisers have already opened registration for next year’s event, which will return to Hyde Park on the last Sunday of October.
